Configuring Outlook Express
This page is intended to help you configure Microsoft Outlook. We also have a page that explains the configuration of Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Within Microsoft Outlook Explorer, click on the Tools menu, and select Accounts... The accounts dialogue box is displayed. The Mail tab shows the email accounts available for sending and receiving email (Fig 1). The News tab shows the NewsGroup servers available (Fig 7).

Select the required mail account and click on the Properties button. The properties dialogue for the selected account are displayed (Fig 2). The General tab (fig 2) includes the name of the account, and the default reply email address to be sent when you send an email.

The Servers tab (fig 3) shows the incoming (POP3) and outgoing (SMTP) mail servers, and the POP3 logon and password required to receive email. If the Remember Password is not checked, then you will have to type the password in every time you check for email.

The Connection tab (fig 4) shows the connection (dial-up) to be used when checking email on this account.

The Servers tab (fig 5) allows you to use a digital signature when sending email. Click the More Info... button to have a full explanation of digital signatures.

The Advanced tab (fig 6) shows the port numbers for the servers used, and timeout settings.
