| Accessing Your Webspace |
| Before using your webspace, you must use the Account Maintenance Application to
create your host and FTP account. Your webspace can be accessed via your FTP account. For
personal users, this is normally the same username and password as your dial-up account.
The hostname that you will need for your FTP configurations is www.youraccount.condoris.net FTP your files into the root directory that you are presented with by your FTP software. We recommend that you use CuteFTP, available from TuCows Every website on LINUX webspace (including home user webpages) must contain a page entitled index.htm. NT webspace must contain a page called default.htm. This is the first page that is shown to your sites visitors. Without the correct page, nothing will be displayed when the site is accessed. Configuring CuteFTP (For LINUX webspace) To configure CuteFTP, open the FTP Site Manager as shown below. This screen is used to add, edit, delete and connect to FTP sites.
Click on the Add Site button, and the popup shown below is displayed.
Complete the fields, as shown below, replacing youraccount with your host name. If you have a Domain Name, replace www.youraccount.condoris.net with www.yourdomainname.co.uk. Replace yourlogin with your ftp login name, and entering your password. You can supply an initial local directory where your website is stored e.g. c:\html\. Click on OK. CuteFTP is now configured.
Now that you have configured CuteFTP, you are ready to upload your site. Highlight the files you want to copy on the left-hand side of the screen, and drag them to the right-hand side of the screen. CuteFTP will ask for confirmation, and once given, the files will be copied to your webspace. |
